North American Birds - Information and Photos

The following represents the roughly 980 species found in the United States and Canada, based on information from the current American Birding Association checklist for North America and the American Ornithological Union. The table lists the species in taxonomical order. 

- Click on the species name to see a detailed information page about that species including photo(s), a North American range map, and a wealth of information on diet, breeding, migration, habitat, and more.

-   Click on the map icon   to view a North American Range Map for that species.

-   All completed species pages have at least one photo.  If there is a camera icon, click to view my own personal photos (and some personal drawings) for that species (available for > 450 species and counting).

- SD - Photos with an "SD" in front are a species that have been seen in South Dakota.

- I have photos of a few species not found in the North American ABA area.  No species information pages are provided, but you can find links to photos below, shown in blue.

Note that this is a work in progress!  I DO have informational pages for every species (roughly 435) seen in South Dakota.  I'm up to over 900 species pages!!  I will continually add new species accounts until I've got pages for all North American species.
