My Favorite: I haven't seen many kites of any species, probably because all species are just extreme rarities in South Dakota, and I just haven't birded a huge amount in much of the southern U.S. In November of 2015 however I came across a beautiful pair of White-tailed Kites, soaring and foraging over the grasslands of Las Cinegas Natural Conservation Area near Tucson, Arizona. One of the pair was fairly curious and passed over me a few times, giving me a rare chance at photos of a kite species.
