American Robin Photos

Photography by Terry Sohl

My Favorite: Overlooked given how common they are, but SUCH a wonderful sight and sound in the early spring, after a long South Dakota winter. A handful may stick around for the winter, but for the most part it's March when American Robins start increasing in number in our part of South Dakota. It's so wonderful on what are often still quite cold, late March days, to hear the first unexpected song of an American Robin!  This photo of an American Robin eating a eastern red cedar berry was taken in Newton Hills State Park on October 11th, 2010.
