My Favorite: How could you not love the little Chickadee? So active, so vocal, so full-of-life...they add so much to the birding landscape, particularly during the long, cold, dreary winters you can have in South Dakota. This photo is my favorite Chickadee photo. It was taken on a beautiful autumn day at the Big Sioux Recreation Area, the state park across the street from our home in Brandon, South Dakota. The dry leaves on the ground, the warm sunlight...really captures the day, and I also love the inquisitive pose of the Chickadee and the log perch, with the little curled knots of wood.
