Ring-necked Pheasant Photos
My Favorite: Our state bird (despite being an introduced species), and one that you can find all over the state. Many of the photos below are from the Presho area, where there are many hunting operations. Not only are there many naturally reproducing pheasant in the area, but some operations raise and release pheasants for hunting. The photo below is from one of my favorite birding locations, southwest of Presho. I couldn't have asked for a better situation with bird...a beautiful male Ring-necked Pheasant, making a perfect pose with a little head turn, right next to a "no hunting" sign, and right at dawn with some gorgeous, warm morning light.
