My Favorite: Yellow Warblers are one of those species you sometimes take for granted. I wait anxiously for the warbler migration each spring, looking for the "exotic" migrants that you only have a chance to see for a few days each year. Meanwhile, Yellow Warblers are also arriving, and are a constant presence throughout much of the summer. Their bright cheery colors and frequent singing make them a wonderful summer resident. I still don't think I have that one photo of a Yellow Warbler that's "it", but I could say that for MOST warblers, given how active they are and how hard they can be to photograph. It seems like there's always some vegetation obscuring some part of the bird, or the light isn't very good. I do like the light on this one though, and it's probably my favorite Yellow Warbler photo. Taken on May 9th, 2011 at the Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon, South Dakota.
