Eared Grebe Photos

My Favorite: It seems like every grebe species has a "way cool" factor, and that certainly holds for Eared Grebes as well. In breeding plumage, that red eye, the funky ear plumes, and the gorgeous dark plumage all make them a real treat to see in the field. Photos below show both breeding plumaged and winter plumaged Eared Grebes. My favorite photo of the species though has to be one of them in breeding plumage. The photo below is from Weisensee slough, a large wetland complex in far western Minnehaha County, South Dakota.
