My Favorite: When I started birding and taking photographs in 2000, it really opened my eyes to many things I'd never noticed before. Before 2000, I had no idea a bird as beautiful as a Rose-breasted Grosbeak was so common in forested areas around here. It took me aback a bit the first time I really "saw" one of these, as a birder...such stunning birds. The photo below is of a beautiful male at Beaver Creek Nature Area, just east of my town of Brandon, South Dakota.
