Pacific Loon Photos

Photography by Terry Sohl

My Favorite: One of the most elegant, beautiful birds in my book, Pacific Loons are but rare visitors to South Dakota, and nearly all of those records have been non-breeding plumage birds found in the months of October or November. The photos below are all of Pacific Loons in full breeding plumage, taken near Eagle River, Alaska in May of 2014. Gorgeous creatures and I was SO happy to be able to photograph them.
