My Favorite: I have two bad photos of Black-bellied Plovers in South Dakota! Good enough to be able to recognize the species, but bad enough that I'm not going to make them part of my website! While I often do see American Golden Plovers in migration in South Dakota, I haven't seen Black-bellied Plovers as much, and when I have, it typically hasn't been close enough for photos. Thus, all of the photos below are of an encounter I had with a small group of non-breeding plumaged Black-bellied Plovers on the beach at Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge in Alabama in February of 2008.
