My Favorite: A definite nemesis species! It took me the better part of 20 years to get a decent photo of a male Hooded Merganser. This was at Lake Thompson in South Dakota on March 29th, 2020. There was a group of 11 birds...10 males, and one poor female that they were all chasing and fighting over. It took the better part of 2 hours of sitting in a chair blind before I finally got my opportunity at a photo. A favorite not only for finally getting a shot of the species, but getting a male with the crest fully raised.
