My Favorite: The first loons I saw after I started birding were up in Alaska, and it certainly was a wonderful experience, particularly given they were calling late in the evening when I first encountered them. However, for my "favorite" photo, I have to go with a home-grown photo from here in South Dakota. Every April it seems we get one or more Common Loons on Wall Lake west of Sioux Falls. This one is from April 28th, 2018.
