My Favorite: I've seen these guys in South Dakota, I've just never gotten any photos of them here. I do tend to go up to Sax-Zim Bog in northern Minnesota about once a winter, and normally I see them up there. The photo below is from a Sax-Zim Bog trip in January 2019, when Pine Grosbeaks were...everywhere. A majority of photos below show males. Photos 6, 7, 8, and 15 show the female Pine Grosbeak, and while she may not have the gaudy red coloring of the male, she's quite the beauty on her own.
