My Favorite: A cool little "raptor", Loggerhead Shrikes have really undergone some serious declines in recent decades. I used to see them more when I first started birding (2000) than I have in recent years. In terms of photos from South Dakota, I have a few from 2005 and 2006. Then, with the exception of a bird I saw while visiting the Everglades in Florida in 2012, I went 13 years (!!) without getting another decent photo of the species. However, on April 26th, 2019 I found 2 different Loggerhead Shrikes about 5 miles apart on the Fort Pierre National Grasslands, and fortunately one was kind enough to sit still for some photos.
