My Favorite: A real treat whenever you find a Buff-breasted Sandpiper. They're rare migrants here in South Dakota, and a species with a pretty low population overall. They're not the typical shorebird, as most of the time when I find them, they're foraging for insects in an alfalfa or cut hay field. My favorite photo though is one that's more "shorebird-like", with a lone bird walking across a muddy shoreline. Taken on May 13th, 2013 near Lake Thompson, South Dakota.
