My Favorite: . Beautiful little gulls, Mew Gulls aren't a species I get to see very often, given their normal summer range is Alaska and northwestern Canada, and in winter, they're primarily found along the Pacific Coast. I have seen them several times when visiting Alaska, with the Alaska photos below mostly from Potter's Marsh just south of Anchorage. My favorite photo is the one below, of a lone bird in some cattails.
I do have other photos below that actually are from South Dakota. Mew Gulls are accidental in South Dakota, but I was fortunate to find 2 on a sandbar near Pierre, South Dakota on January 2nd, 2021.
