My Favorite: How many photos of a Savannah Sparrow in autumn vegetation do you need? Evidently quite a few!! Savannah Sparrows are one of the most common species that migrate through in the fall (with seemingly smaller numbers in the spring, and a few that hang around to breed in summer). Thus as you'll see, most of my photos below are of Savannah Sparrows in the dried grasses of the fall. Evidently the first two weeks of October are "the" time to see and photograph Savannah Sparrows in South Dakota, given that nearly all of my photos below are from that very narrow time frame! My favorite photo is the one below from October 14th, 2019 at Good Earth State Park, along the South Dakota / Iowa border.
