My Favorite : Drop-dead gorgeous. These little guys just POP out from the surrounding landscape when you see one. Given that they're birds of the deciduous forest, you're a bit limited where you see them here. All of the photos below are from Newton Hills State Park , the best location in my part of the state to find eastern woodland birds. Here's a gorgeous male in perfect plumage, posing on a bit of dead sumac.
