My Favorite: In South Dakota, Herring Gulls are a species you usually don't ever see in big numbers, but where ever you have concentrations of gull species, you could very well likely find one or a handful of Herring Gulls. Most of my encounters with them in the state have been around the Missouri River and its reservoirs. My favorite photo of the species however is the one below, from Sachuest National Wildlife Refuge in Rhode Island from 2012.
