My Favorite: Glaucous Gulls aren't a species I see all that often in South Dakota, and when I do, it's typically one bird, at a long distance. They're most often seen below the dams on the Missouri River in winter, where they can be seen hanging out with other gull species that are enjoying some of the rare open water in the state during that season. I have photos of a few birds, but to be honest, most are pretty bad! The photos below are all a little better, and are all of hte same bird taken on January 4th, 2019 below the Oahe Dam near Pierre, South Dakota.
