My Favorite: One of the most beautiful birds we have in South Dakota. They're rather unpredictable and sometimes hard to find, but they may pop up just about anywere. When they are present, it's hard to miss them, given the brilliant coloring on the males. This photo of a male on a barbed wire fence was taken on May 30th, 2015 near Lake Thompson, in Kingsbury County, South Dakota.
