My Favorite: I look forward to mid-May every year, as that's when our spring migration is in full force. A highlight of that time of year is warbler migration, where I've had days of finding 20 different warbler species in a day. Magnolia Warblers are a species I see every year, never in big numbers, nearly always single birds, but I typically see several every year.
PHOTOGRAPHING said warbler is another story! While I may enjoy warbler migration, it's one HELL of a challenge trying to photograph them! They're always moving, they're small, and they're often high in the canopy. Magnolia Warblers thankfully are sometimes lower in the canopy, however, and I do have one photo of the species I'm very fond of, from May 17th, 2020 at Union Grove State Park in southeastern South Dakota.
