Red-winged Blackbird Photos

My Favorite: One of the most common birds in the state, and as such they're easy to overlook. If you can capture the detail in the blacks and show that shoulder though, the males are quite pretty. They also add a heck of a lot of character during the summer months, as it's hard to miss their loud, raucous calls. My favorite photo of the species is probably the one below, a male in mid-song, from April 2019 in Lincoln County, South Dakota.
