My Favorite: We live across the street from the Big Sioux Recreation Area, a state park in Brandon, South Dakota. One of the most common sounds when walking through the park in the summer is a simple, soft song, consisting of monotone notes that get faster and faster. They belong to a simple yet elegant looking bird, the Field Sparrow. One distinguishing characteristic of the Field Sparrow is the lack of distinguishing characteristics! They looks so simple and "clean" compared to other sparrows, but I think they're quite attractive. As for my favorite photo? This is from October 14th, 2019 at Good Earth State Park, a wonderful park on the border of South Dakota and Iowa.
