A high Arctic specialty, not seen in South Dakota. These were taken during a visit to the Seward, Alaska area. They are found in the Seward area in winter, but this was taken in summer at the Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward, certainly a wonderful destination for any birder in the area. So cool to get close to birds like this. Click on the thumbnail for a high-res view of the photograph.
