Blackburnian Warbler

Photo of the Week (May 24th, 2020)

(archive photos of the week here)

The photo of the week HAS to be a warbler of some kind. I took the entire previous week off and did a lot of birding. The timing couldn't have been better, as the warbler migration this year has been spectacular around southeastern South Dakota. I have seen 22 different warbler species in the last week, including several species that I don't see very often. That includes the gorgeous Blackburnian Warbler, a species I don't see every year. This year, however, I've seen at least a dozen. The photo below is from Beaver Creek Nature Area on May 16th, 2020.
