From our recent family vacation in Utah and Colorado, a Sage Thrasher. Not a species I have much of a chance to see in South Dakota, although there are a handful on the far western edge of the state. For me, one of the best aspects of traveling (either for work or as a family vacation) are the new birds you may find, and this trip didn't disappoint. The Sage Thrasher wasn't a "lifer", but several new life birds were seen, along with many others such as this that I don't get a chance to see very often.
