Location 2 -- Madison Waterfowl Production Area

Open water and wetland vegetation can be seen on both sides of the gravel road at locations 2 and 3.  These locations often offer tremendous viewing of waterfowl during migration, especially on the east side of the road where water is deeper.  Shorebirds can be seen during the spring and fall on both sides of the road, but are probably more common on the west side of the road where the water is shallower.  Large groups of American White Pelicans can often be seen foraging on the east side of the road in the spring.  Various gull and tern species also can be spotted from this location at different times of the year.
