Location 1 -- Madison Waterfowl Production Area

This gravel access road does intersect the wetland and water in one location.  Water and the herbaceous wetland vegetation as shown below can be seen on both sides of the road.  The water is extremely shallow at most times at this spot, and there are also often exposed mudflats during the summer months.

The wetland vegetation often hides Green Heron and Sora as well as other typical wetland species.  The shallow water in this location also is a popular spot for wading birds such as Great Egrets and Great Blue Herons, while many types of shorebirds can be found here in the spring and fall.
