Growing up in the 1970s, I remember watching "Baretta", a show about a salty detective who had a pet Sulphur-crested Cockatoo. Frankly I didn't remember that show until our trip, and seeing these guys in person! Big, brash, bold, and full of character, they were liable to show up no matter where we were in eastern Australia, from the Sydney area, to the Blue Mountains, and all the way northward to Cairns and the tropical northeastern part of the country. A bird I really enjoyed watching as well as photographing.
