Alright, I admit I'm an idiot. I had one morning in Centennial Park, and there quite a few Myna birds around. Not wanting to bother shooting Myna (common, and an invasive), I stopped paying attention to other birds that were joining them as they walked around in the grass. One was this species...Noisy Miner. An opportunity almost lost, but at least I did grab one photo after realizing I was missing a species. But of course after this quick shot I never saw them again! And FWIW...I never heard them make a peep. Nor did I see them doing any mining. :-)
