Bush Stone-curlew Photos

Burhinus grallarius

I knew of both Bush Stone-curlew (also known as Bush Thick-knee) and the Beach Stone-curlew, so had it in my mind that they looked like shorebirds. They do, but they're much bigger than I expected! We ran into several near Atherton, and I kind of had to do a double-take the first time I saw them, and how big they were. Very cool birds, and as you can tell from the photos below, pretty tame.
