Baird's Sandpiper Photos

One of the most common shorebird migrants that moves through in the spring, and usually one of the earliest as well. The photo below gives a good side view of one and shows all the keys for helping to identify a Baird's Sandpiper: 1) wingtips that are long and extend past the tail, 2) black legs, 3) slight droop to the bill, and 4) dark smudge in front of the eye. From Lake County, South Dakota on April 23rd, 2020.
