Pine Siskin

Photo of the Week (January 28th, 2018)

(archive photos of the week here)

Alright, at SOME point I needed to make a Pine Siskin the photo of the week. They're a species we occasionally get at our feeders, but it's normally one or two birds visiting on rare occasions during the winter. We go some winters without ever seeing one. However, this winter we've been inundated with Pine Siskins, to the point that they've been the dominant bird in our back yard all winter long. I have a very tall niger/thistle seed feeder that often has every perch occupied by these guys this winter, leading me to have to fill the thing as often as once a day.  I'm not complaining though, not when it's a species we normally don't get in our yard.
