Finally we're starting to get quite a bit of open water (other than all the flooded rivers). The bigger water bodies are still mostly ice covered, but there are plenty of smaller water bodies, wetlands, and flooded fields with open water, and that's attracting a lot of migrating waterfowl. One of my favorite species are among them...Redhead. Such gorgeous drakes, here's a photo of one in warm morning light, from western Minnehaha County.
