One of the highlights of a trip to the Black Hills of western South Dakota is the inevitable encounter with these guys, the Mountain Bluebird. Perhaps not the more intense blue you can find in a summer male Mountain Bluebird, but the pale blue colors of this late summer bird are still quite striking. From Custer State Park on September 1st, 2018.
