Area #6 in the Lake Thompson Area is characterized by a very large cattail marsh. In prior years, when the lake level was higher, this area was dominated by open shallow water, and large mudflats. At that time, it was tremendous for shorebirds. Now, with the thick cattail vegetation, you're more likely to find birds like this American Bittern, Sora, and Virginia Rails.
