The Sherriff Dam area is another one of the many little reservoirs sprinkled throughout the Fort Pierre National Grasslands, and another spot where I've had luck birding. There are some pretty thick cedar and deciduous trees below the dam, and these often are rather "birdy", even in the winter when the berries on the cedar trees attract a lot of birds. The water of the little reservoir itself can attract some nice species, and it's one of a couple spots where I've seen both Marbled Godwit and Wilson's Phalarope in the summer months.
To find the area by GPS coordinate, the geographic coordinates of the entrance to the Sheriff Dam area (where the main road turns) are 44° 6' 37.8" N, and 100° 25' 35.8" W.
