An aerial photograph from Google Earth of the feature that overlooks and dominates much of Dakota Nature Park...the reclaimed landfill. It's a high, grassy hill that covers a good chunk of the park, and offers open grassland birding that's quite the contrast to the wetlands, woodlands, and ponds to the south and east. When I visited there wasn't a lot of bird activity up high, although I did see Savannah Sparrows and a Northern Harrier fly-by. With numerous Eastern Kingbird, Bobolink, and other grassland birds reported here the last few years, it's definitely worth a look though if you're visiting the park and want a chance to see grassland species.
