Sandhill Crane
This photo of an adult Sandhill crane with colt (young) was taken on August 8th, 2007 in Yellowstone National Park. This adult and it's mate were tending this colt on a dry sagebrush and grassland flat above Mammoth Hot Springs, not a place I'd normally associate with these guys. But, there were lots of grasshoppers, and I assume that's what they were foraging on. Taken with Canon 20D, 400 5.6L.
