Lamar Valley

My favorite part of the park.  Lamar is a very large open valley with large expanses of grassland and sagebrush, and higher elevation areas with forest on either side.  If you want to view wildlife in Yellowstone, this is one of the best places, especially if looking for Bison and Elk (and the animals that prey on them).  This photo was near sunset on August 4th, 2007.  Hard to see at this resolution, but all the dark dots in the center part of the image are bison, quite a large herd.   Photo taken with Canon 20D, 17-40L.
