Ear Spring

A small (4 x 6 foot) hot spring in the Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone.  It is named for it's ear shape, and has a delicate crust of sinter around it's edge. While it's often boiling and bubbling, the only activity beyond that was right after the big 1959 earthquake, when it boiled violently and discharged a large amount of water.

Taken August 6th, 2007 with Canon 20D, 17-40L.
