Nature Photography - Done Naturally

Red-headed Woodpecker Photo

This photo of a Red-headed Woodpecker was taken on August 16th, 2009 at Beaver Creek Nature Area near Brandon, South Dakota.  Boy are these guys tough to get a good exposure on when shooting them, with the black and white and bright red, and it sure doesn't help when the lighting is this strong.  Took a very strong dose of fill-flash to get a usable photo in these conditions.  Photo taken with Canon 50D, 400 5.6L.
