Virginia's Warbler Photos

Photography by Terry Sohl

My Favorite: Most Virginia's Warbler range maps show the species breeding well to the southwest of South Dakota. However, around 2000 it was discovered that there's a healthy breeding population in the far southwestern corner of the state, in specific types of shrubby habitats.  However, that's a 6-hour drive from my part of South Dakota! I have never seen one in the state, and thus all the photos below are from the numerous Virginia's Warblers that we found on vacation in Colorado, at Black Canyon of the Gunnison.
