Rough-legged Hawk Photo

This photo of a Rough-legged Hawk was taken on January 4th, 2009 on the  Fort Pierre National Grasslands in South Dakota.  This is the same bird as in the next photo (Rough-legged Hawk #14).  He had tried unsuccessfully to capture a vole or mouse or something in the snow under the grass here, and after failing, just sat there for awhile as if embarrassed he missed.  Never usually get this close to Rough-legged Hawks.  Photo taken with Canon 50D, 400 5.6L.
