Golden Eagle Photos

My Favorite: Power. That's the impression you see when you come across a Golden Eagle on the grasslands in the central part of the state. When coming across one of these massive birds, you're immediately impressed by the size, and the feeling that this is the most powerful creature in the area. The Fort Pierre National Grasslands are a wonderful place to see Golden Eagles in the winter months. Here one takes flight from a fence post in nice warm morning light. This is an immature bird that hasn't gotten it's full adult plumage yet, as it still has white on the tail and white wing patches.
