Photos of Osprey

My Favorite: Fall can be a great time to bird around Gavin's Point Dam, on the Nebraska / South Dakota border. There are often a lot of migrating gulls (including some rare migrants), a lot of waterfowl, and eagles start to show up in force. Fall is also a great time to look for Ospreys fishing the waters below the dam's spillway. On a fine, sunny, October 28th, 2007, I was scanning the water for ducks and gulls when I saw an Osprey headed up the river towards the dam. As I stood there, the Osprey started to hover and stare at the water, right above where I was standing! An incredible photo opportunity that doesn't come along very often, and a unique photo that I really like.
