Orchard Oriole Photo

This photo of a male Orchard Oriole was taken on July 22nd, 2008 in Minnehaha County.  And no, the fledgling he's about to give the little white grub to is NOT an Orchard Oriole, it's a Brown-headed Cowbird.  Orchard Orioles are unfortunately very common hosts to Cowbird parasitism, with some studies hinting that up to 50% of Orchard Oriole nests play hosts to Cowbirds in some areas.  Photo taken with Canon 40D, 400 5.6L.
