Northern Bobwhite Photos

Photography by Terry Sohl

My Favorite:  We are on the very northern fringe of the range for Northern Bobwhite, and it's thought that their numbers in South Dakota often fluctuate with the severity of the winters.  I've heard them on a number of occasions and seen them a few times, primarily near Newton Hills State Park. However, my favorite photo below is from Beaver Creek Nature Area, just a few miles from my hometown of Brandon, South Dakota.
