Chestnut-backed Chickadees are probably the most colorful of the different chickadee species found in the U.S. I had a lot of fun during a summer 2011 trip to the coast of Oregon, shooting these guys in and around Ecola State Park and Cannon Beach. I think I now have more Chestnut-backed Chickadee photos than I do of the scads of Black-capped Chickadees that live around here!! For some reason these guys seemed a lot more cooperative than the chickadees around here, especially the bird in the first seven photos, who kept returning to the same little tree to forage for bugs.
